Peacocks

Do you know me? Do you REALIZE how much I obsess over peacocks? Do you know that I have meellions of peacock feathers and peacock sundries? DO YOU KNOW THAT THERE IS A WOMAN IN COOLIDGE, AZ THAT HAS SEVERAL ACRES OF LAND WITH A KICK ASS HOUSE AND AN OLD STONE BUILDING OUT BACK THAT SHE TURNED INTO HER STUDIO AND HAS PEACOCKS ON HER PROPERTY? She also makes things by hand and is an artist. She probably twirls under the sun in broomstick skirts and sings Stevie Nicks songs too. Do you know that she's friends with my cousin? And my cousin likes to tell me "Tiff, she brought me this great cookbook & it's filled with all her own recipes and she even illustrated the book herself!" Hey Peacock Lady, I NEED you to quit pretending to be me, ok? Hopefully this perfect woman has toe jam or some serious B.O., because that would make me feel a tiny bit better. BAAHHHH hahahahah... I bet in actuality she smells fantastic. She probably smells like asian jasmine instead of 'teen spirit'. Danged peacock lady.

Now where was I? Oh yes, the painting. MY painting. I have been working on this for weeks. One feather left then I'm callin it quits... but maybe not. This is definitely a work in progress and I will post it once it's completed.

I love Feathers..... (tone)... I say feather- you say stone... FEATHER... (stone) FEATHER (stone). Don't act like you didn't say it.

Hearts are Trump

Does anyone remember that band Trio and Error? What a good time they were... German pop punkers are as happy as leetle gerls. Anyway, I thought I would make some paintings of hearts that should be tattoos the more I look at them. The swirlies in the one painting were inspired by the Olympic torch--- represe'in flames. I dig it. I dig it like Diggie Howzer. But I'm not one that usually digs hearts. This is not unknown... But here I stand beside myself in a glass case of emotion obviously. So I painted hearts. And Hearts are 2 Sweet 2Be 4Gotten. LYLAS! Srs 89! Longer Letter Later! SWAK! Boys Before Books! Enjoy the fire and passion and hearts that are painted. But don't sing to me in German because more than likely I won't know what you're saying. ACHTUNG, BABY.

Mom got a time out

Saturday afternoon my friend Joy called and asked if I'd go to the cabin with her. So I did- even though my 'responsible' side was doing everything to try and to talk me out of it. I put that 'responsible' side in the coat closet and duct taped its mouth shut. When exactly is it that I began to be so 'responsible' anyway? And why do I wait until I'm ready to lose my mind up in here (up in here) before I think - HEY, I NEED A FREAKIN BREAK?! You know me. You know I like my me time. You know I am spontaneous. What happened? When did I stop taking me time and being spontaneous? Needless to say, I went and I am glad I did! It was a nice 2 hour car ride with great conversation. We were rained on during the drive to the cabin- the smell of wet pine trees is just unbelievable- I had forgotten. We drove with the windows down hyperventilating from inhaling as deeply as we could. It was so incredibly peaceful and serene. Once we got there, it was about 20 degrees cooler than Phoenix... need a sweatshirt? That would be an affirmative. After walking around the property, taking endless photographs that did absolutely no justice, and finally eating dinner, I spent the evening having great conversation, watching the fire, and really getting back in touch with myself. I could have stayed a few more days but even just the one overnight was plenty to rejuvenate and get centered. The weather was gorgeous and everywhere you looked was a picture perfect postcard. The cabin is near Mormon Lake which is SE of Flagstaff. Unfortunately the Elk we hoped to see were nowhere to be found as hunting season is open so they were all scared off - bummer. However, we did see other wildlife such as chipmunks, ravens, frogs, swallows, dragonflies, tadpoles, minnows, horses, dogs, and lots of beautiful flowers in the meadow.

I promise that I will take time to be alone with myself more often... and also be more spontaneous. NATURE RULES. Here's just a few of the meelleons of pictures I took. (Click on each to see close up.)

I used a Canon Powershot SD630 digital camera.

First Day of School 8/11/08

My computer crashed so I haven't been able to get pics up! But here we are...

My 10 yr old daughter started middle school. In my opinion, 5th grade is much too young for junior high but we have no control over that. Needless to say, she handled it like a champ and didn't even bring her schedule with her the 2nd day of school! She's amazing. It was a very bright morning. HA!

Sam started 2nd grade this year. He was a bit nervous as his big sister wouldn't be on campus so now he's got to represent all by himself. Give the boy some props!!! He loves it and is thriving in school right now... we are very pleased with this!
They are well adjusted in their 3rd week of school now and thriving. These 2 kiddos are pretty cool in my book.
